Maybe some with some insight or experience can lend their 2 cents.
My stock power steering pump has nipple and a block off plug right adjacent to the fill cap. Is this designed to be used as an add on external reservoir? I'm mounting a milemarker hydraulic winch on the truck and powering it off the power steering pump, already planned on adding a cooler to keep the fluid colder, trying to make the system as efficient as possible.

I've got an add on valve assembly (not installed yet) but runs off the PS pump as well, doesn't work if you are steering (no pressure) BUT, if stationary, works quite well (tested it on the truck it was on).

As dumb as this sounds, I'm going to use it to run a hoist cylinder for converting the box, because I have a 3" body lift on the truck, it's a great way to add a 1/2ton hoist between the box and frame.

I'll need an extra reservoir and cooler also.

Milemarker is the brand. And it's a winch that's designed to run off hydraulic power, more specifically the power steering pump.

For A hoist I would assume you would need a fairly large reservoir

LOL, okay the brand name threw me off...couldn't figure out what you'd be doing to mile markers or at mile marker to warrant a winch...maybe recycling them for scrap, spray painting new messages on them, etc., etc.

The extra nipple is for hydroboost. it will NOT work for an external resi. As your second resi would be above the cap...which is far from air tight. The barb is also far too small to be a suction feed line.

You need to look into a different pump to go external resi.

You will need a different pump to support the flow, pressure, and an external resi. Otherwise you will have the weakest slowest dump bed known to man.lol Your better bet would be a stand alone 12V power unit like a typical dump bed hoist would use...
