I am sure that a lot of my perceived power issues with the 3.7 could be fixed with tuning, it just feels like the 3.5 in the Edge or Flex has way more getup 'n go than a 3.7 Mustang.

But then there is the story going around at the EcoBoost training class about the guy in Detroit who made an 8 second car out of his 12 Taurus SHO with a programmer, a little adjustment of the waste gates, and some better tires.

its a 11 second car. i am sure by now there is video of it.

one of the shops i dealt with on the tuning aspects is livernois...they had them in the 13's with tune iirc. if that dont impress:dunno: dont know what to say.

I thought his last run before the turbos came apart was high 8s.

The 2011 3.7 Mustang was just a hair slower in the quarter than a 2010 4.6 Mustang...

I watched an automatic Mustang with 2.XX gears pummel the snot out of two late model LS1/2 GTO's in the 1/8 mile one night.
And no videos? :bawling:

Be patient and use a torque wrench when called for.
I asked this a while back over at www.rangerpowersports.com, didn't sound like anyone had heard of one being done and at the time I had just decided to roll forward with putting another 4.0L SOHC V-6 in my '03 Ranger when the time comes.

Fast forward a year or two, was just wondering if anyone has looked at the viability of say a F-150 3.7L V-6 being swapped into our Ranger platform?

I looked online for a size comparison and couldn't find one, same same for trans match up info. The power numbers along with what I'd think weight reduction seem like it'd be a great swap.

Any info would be appreciated...

Chuck

P.S. Short of this, greengeeker's thread is looking very promising...
Advance Adaptors makes the bell housing adaptor and motor mounts to swap a 3.7L V6 into a Ranger or Bronco II. In fact it is narrower than the cologne motor.

I spoke to Austin at Advance and I read about the 3.7 vs the 4.0 on a mustang forum. Right now I'm trying to get info on the problems I may encounter with the ECM/PCM.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
The 3.5/3.7 V6's aren't narrower than any Cologne engine I've seen.

The Cologne motor is a 90degree configuration and the 3.7 is a 60degree configuration.

This is incorrect. Cologne engines are all 60* V6's.

+1

The pushrod colognes would be way narrower than a DOHC 3.7, the SOHC colognes should be narrower too.

While I was replacing the valve cover gaskets on my wife's 3.5 last spring it hit me the stupid thing had to be as big if not bigger than my 302. They ain't dainty by any means.

Thanks for the info. IYHO, do you think the 3.7 will fit in a Bronco II?

Probably.

You can fit lots of things in a BII, I don't think it would physically be larger than say a 351W which is a semi common swap. Or really much bigger than a 302.

IMO the devil will be in the details... and this case the details will look like multicolored spaghetti. Be careful with the wiring and research it is as much as you can so you know what you need and where it needs to go.

That's my concern also. I've been looking for an article on a stand alone wiring set up for the swap. I have an adaptor for the bell housing/tranny marriage and motor mounts. But the wiring, ugh!

What transmission were you intending to use with the 3.7?
