Floppy Door Mirrors

So I dont want to buy plastic replacement mirrors. I would like to just repaint my steel door mirrors but the driver side one always flops around..... I haven't looked at it or taken it apart yet, I dont want to leave the air conditioning right now either... has anyone fixed this I remember there was a way to fix this I couldn't remember or find a article on it though.

I happened to have some laying around off a f250. They bolted right in place. Had to replace the whole mount and everything, no way was that bolt coming out that held the mirror to the bracket.

Just for everyone's info, I had those little black "car" type mirrors on my 86 STX. They would not stay no matter what I did. Found out the same f150/f250/f350 mirrors almost bolt on in place of those also. I say almost, the two top bolts match right up. Of course it didn't have the two bottom holes. You can get the tool and put the threaded inserts in, but I just used sheetmetal screws and they have held up fine for me.

Just for everyone's info, I had those little black "car" type mirrors on my 86 STX. They would not stay no matter what I did.

3 zip ties on each mirror (between the mirror and the mount) and they never moved again.

The one on my B2 would just turn all the way in when I got up around 40 mph for a while. The arm stayed out, just the head moved. Turned out the mount bolt that goes up through the bottom of the mirror was loose.

Thats what I was thinking. I just haven't taken the time to look at it. The mirror decides its gonna look at the rear tire whenever the door gets closed or I hit a bump the arm stays secured in its position fortunately
