Has anyone ever used the auto transmission ports on a radiator for cooling for the power steering system?what are the pros and cons in doing this?

My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
My power steering noise quiets down when its warmer.

No kidding, the power steering quiets down as I drive after warm up. Maybe I am sarcastically sayin we don't need no stinkin power steering coolers.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
I just went with a real engine and p pump ....

This seems simpler. Nice.

I’ve had my share of fords over the year’s. Every single one has the horrible steering whine. Mercon v flushes. New pumps. Multiple bleed procedures. Never could seem to get the noise to go away.

Ive seen in the tech articles about using a Saginaw pump to eliminate the noise. Problem is, those pumps are impossible to find. And not cheap when you do. So I spent hours researching. And much to my surprise. I came across a company that had a fairly simple solution to this age old problem.

This company machined an adapter That bolts to your existing power steering bracket. And allows you to use the modern Saginaw TC pump. Found on the 2000s Jeep liberty’s. They advertise it for a 4.0. But I personally just installed one on my 3.0. And it worked perfectly. And it’s DEAD SILENT. All the lines mounted right up. It fits perfectly. And the instructions were super clear.

im not affiliated with them by any means. I just was very pleased with the results on my own truck. And wanted to share with you guys. Check it out!
I registered specifically to echo this.
I installed the Saginaw pump via the Proquipped kit on my ‘99 today. Took a little over 3 hours at a leisurely pace with plenty of distractions. I’ve had my Ranger since 2002 and I feel stupid for waiting this long. I hear an engine now, not a power steering whine.
I’m in about $120 with kit, used pump, fluid and misc. Worth several times that. If you’ve ever been embarrassed when turning your steering wheel I can’t recommend this enough.
Tip: remove your inner fender liner when hooking up the pressure line to the new pump. Much easier going in from that angle.
