2004 ranger xl fender splash guard bolt size 5mm is too small and 5.5mm is too big. Nothing SAE seems to fit. About to saw it off đŸ¤¬

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Give the edges a good wire brushing and try again.

I’ll go buy a wire brush. Is it supposed to be a 5mm bolt?

You could just try scraping the edges good with a flat-head too, no idea what size it's supposed to be though.

The ol Mexican speed-wrench (adjustable) might not be a bad option either.

What's the worst that could happen?
It's 5/16.

When I went to the pull yard, I wasn't planning on pulling a fender so I didn't have the right size wrench. I went to AZ and bought this:

It worked on a 94.

Grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s
you might get one of the ends on a screw driver that has removable tips to fit, too

typically the difference between an $8 and a $20 haircut is way more than $12

I see what you mean about the small ones, like under the backside on it, I'll see if I can find that

The closest I had was a 7/32. I only have some cheap sets that size that I keep in my yard bag, and it even feels a bit loose in there but not enough I wouldn't use it, hoping it would break it.
I think it won't be long I'll need or want to do some things on mine
I have two sets like that which are one metric, and one set standard

I'd try a 7/32's if you had it. Sorry it took me so long to catch on to this :/
