Factory Original Fender Flare Installation - Any Tips?

I would like to install factory original fender flares on my 1996 Ford Ranger.
I found several junkyard Rangers with the fender flares.

Is it difficult to mount them on a Ranger that didn't come with fender flares from the factory?

If it is the same year/body style, there should be no problem.

You have to drill holes in the fenders and box to install the factory flares.... and I'm not talking about the lip. To make things worse... all the hardware that holds them on the donor is gonna break when you remove them... and there is no hardware kit available to purchase. You will have to make something...

While I do like the look of flares, drilling holes in that pristine truck would be a crime...

One alternative would be to snag a nice set of fenders with flares (hopefully in a suitable color) and just transfer them onto your truck...
