I have an 86 standard cab longbed, I was wondering if an extended cab along with the extended cab bed would line up on my frame. I know the extended cabs have a shorter bed on first gens. Possible? I'm thinking about it if it works.

Awhile back I was told it will work but you will have to move the rear cab mounts and you will have to use the shorter bed. The extra cab space took away from the bed.

I think you have to shorten the regular bed by a couple inches or shorten the longbed by a foot and then some. The cab will fit, hell - we have a member with a regular cab on an explorer frame.

Ok, yeah i plan on taking the extended cab and the bed because it took away from the long bed. i parked next to one and they are the same length. OK, I'm gonna go inquire about saving it.

No, they aren't the same length. Extended cab rangers (which all had 6' beds) are longer than reg cab long bed rangers. I think there was about a foot difference in wheelbase. With that said, an extended cab truck with a 5' bed would probably look pretty good IMO

Along with what Kunar was talking about, here are the approximate wheelbases of Rangers:
Reg Cab Short Box: 108"
Reg Cab Long Box: 114"
Supercab Short Box: 125"

You can do this with a 98+ truck, the frame rails are two pieces riveted together at the front leaf mount.

Sounds like a cool swap.

i would build one if i had the time and $$$$$, would also like to do the cummins 4BT swap with a good drivetrain to back it up ...... i seen on you tube a chevy 3500 with a cummins and a 13 speed eaton and some with 10 speeds, imagine that in a danger ranger with a 8.8 rear end :icon_hornsup:

I kinda have one, I've got fiberglass long-bedsides on my extracab ranger, but it doesn't exactly have a useable bed.
