Explorer oil pan question

Alright. Only asking cause I looked and haven’t found anything.

can I use the oil pan from a 2000 explorer 5.0 in my 90 2wd. It’s a rear sump pan. Or do I need the fox body pan? Thanks.

I will be using it my 2000. Works perfect on the mockup block.
All depends.on what mounts you use

I ended up using the fox body pan. I’m using 95 mustang mounts.

The explorer rear sump was just a little too large to clear the frame.

Explorer was too big or the fox pan was too big?

I haven't heard of anyone using the Explorer pan on a TIB/TTB truck.

The explorer rear sump pan was too big.
The fox body pan like I’ve run in the past fits perfect. So for anyone curious. You cannot use a explorer rear sump pan. On the 1st/2nd gen rangers. With mustang vert mounts.

I have made other posts on TRS and other sites. I have swapped a 5.0 from '99 Explorer to a '96 Ranger. Both 2 wheel drive. I am trying to use original 3.0 Ranger mounts with machined plates and wound up jacking the engine up 1" both sides to help clear oil pan on "I" beam. Also gives me additional clearance on oil filter remote housing. So believe I have been able to get around the oil pan issue however, in doing that the hood will not completely close and latch. It appears to go down but won't latch.

Just wondering if a newer hood - cowl design- or similar will fit a '96?

My problems seems to be the wire harness will not connect. I have a thread with that so won't hijack this one.

On my mock up.. the stock 99 and 2000 explorer pans fit perfect using 3.0 mounts and Rick's ranger swap plates.
In a 2000 2wd explorer

I didn't think any rear sump or dual oil pans had issues fitting in 1st Gen V8 rangers.also didn't only certain ones fit as well.i hope my sn95 pan will be sufficient for mine.i think it may be a dual sump.but not yet.is there any aftermarket pans that people use that fit well?.I think Ford sells a rear sump for like 150.00 that has pick up and stick on American muscles Website.was considering that one if mine has issues fitting correctly.

4x4 ttb needs a dual sump fox style. Or a modified fox depending on lift and placement.

Certain van and truck pans can work with tib chassis. Definitely more room with the tib, especially with a body lift.

The sla chassis has more options...obviously the explorer had the v8


I can actually put a 350 in easier then the sbf....cam ram style exhaust manifolds and a 400 t style pan ... Cake.

I pulled my engine yesterday, replaced the flat plates I had on there. The "Fox Body" period oil pan will be in today at the "Twilight Zone" parts store. The new pickup as well. I cut and beat back the trans tunnel seam and waiting to change pan today. I really only wanted to raise 1" on the body/bed. I have one wrung off bolt in the middle cab mounts. I can only find the cab corner mounts, not middle or radiator support mounts if I twist them off. I am hoping this works, I may opt to mod the pan rather than try to raise if this does not work. Stock V-6 ranger frame mounts, made plates of 1/4" steel.

Mustang oil pan and pickup, engine back on frame, using stock Ranger v-6 mounts and 1/4" steel plates. Looks like it might just clear. I have the cab off, hope to set tomorrow and if the engine/trans can slide back even a 1/4" more I will be tickled!
