German chocolate is made in Pennsylvania.
So Germany IMPORTS(?) their chocolate from PA? that is absurd. There is a chocolate factory in St Augustine FL that makes German Chocolate, so not ALL German chocolate is made in PA. The company in St. Augustine actually helped Hershey make the "Kiss" molds. #Facts.

Many years ago my uncle was stationed in Germany and my grandparents went over to visit him. One of their friends asked them to send him a box of German chocolates while they were there, so they went into the town, to a shop, and bought a box. It arrived, he flipped it over and on the back near the barcode it said "Made in Hershey PA".

I must be missing something, because I clearly remember Fords and Volkswagens and a few other brands being built in or parts assembled in Mexico. Circa late 90's. It was a big deal then, consumers realized that Camrys and BMW's were being built in SC somewhere and Fords were coming from Mexico and Canada. Wikipedia says the Focus engine is built in Mexico, and isn't the Ranger engine Basically the Focus ST/RS engine?
2.3 Duratec was a Mazda engine, 2.8/2.9/4.0 came from Germany. The A4LD (and directives) came from France and of course every Mitsubushi/TK/Mazda trans was Japanese. Diesel engines were imported too.

Globally sourced parts are really nothing new to the Ranger.

The 2.3 lima was the only US built ranger engine correct? Possibly the 2.0 also.

I thought the cleveland plant shut down in 2011 or 12?

Limas and Vulcans were US.

Cleveland plant #2 shut down, #1 is still running.

The RWD 2.3 Duratec was produced in Dearborn. The FWD versions came out of Mexico.

I think we are saying the same thing. I am not the OP, and not arguing, just also stating that it is no surprise that some parts are from Mexico.

Edit: You didn't mention where the 2.0 was built. Mexico Maybe?
SideNote to Edit: what about the Zetech motors? were they the same as Duretec?

The 2.0 was an underbore 2.3 Lima, both are called Limas so I would think they would have both been made at the Lima plant.

As Fastpackr pointed out the RWD Duratec was made in the US although it was a Mazda engine. No idea on the Ztech.

Copied from Wikipedia. Answers the Zetec question. The "690" is the number of employees at the plant.

OK here's one for ya... Why is Mexico not lumped in with Canada/USA? It is still NORTH AMERICA right? That is 66% American Made in my book. The other 34% must be Australian parts.

Mexico is considered Central America. Let’s just say the truck is American made, as in made on the American Continent and call it good.

Probably due to Detroit being like right on the boarder with Canada and that kind of being a tangled mess for a long time with a factory just over there but in a different country.

Windsor Canada (you know, where they made 351W, 4.6W's and 5.4's) is farther south than most of Detroit is.

It was probably a union backed thing before Mexico became a big deal.
