Hi, I am new to this forum and it is a great resource. I have a 2004 Ranger XLT 4X4 with a 4.0 and 135K. I was having to push pretty hard to get it into gear so I finally changed out the clutch and changed the transmission fluid. I am working in my shop on the floor and when I pushed the transmission back on I crushed the harness side 02 sensor connector in between the transmission and the engine. It was totally destroyed, I ordered a new connector on a pigtail and am going to try to splice it in. It is one of the upstream cat o2 sensors. The check engine light came on when I started it up for a test. I was hoping my truck wouldn't notice one missing o2 sensor! Has anyone else had this problem and made this repair. I also didn't notice a significant change with the clutch, could the tranny be going at 135K? One problem at a time though!
Thanks in advance!

Your truck is OBDII, it knows the sensor isn't even plugged in and it's unhappy about that. The upstream sensors are more important than the downstreams.

Also, your shifting issues were probably a leaking slave cylinder, not the clutch itself. I'm assuming you didn't replace that, so time to get that tranny back on the ground.

On the bright side, it will make replacing that connector you damaged easier.

Thanks for the reply! I did replace the slave but am now remembering I did not bleed it. I wonder which is worse, trying to reach the 02 sensor wires with everything in place or removing the whole undercarriage again so the sensor is easy to get to. Thanks again for the reply.
