Hi

Has anyone experienced a delay in the pushbutton 4x4 switch for the BW1350? I have to push the button a shitload to get the tcase to engage. Is it a problem with the switch or the motor? A dry, corroded connector issue?

Have you tried putting the truck in neutral and maybe let it coast a bit while you shift?

That helps with my F-150 sometimes, things are not lined up exactly perfect to shift.

How many times is a 'shitload'? When you push the button you should hear several 'clicks' (4 or 5) from the control unit (not sure where it is in an '89 BII) then see the 4H light flash a couple of times then burn steady. Listen carefully each time you push the button & see if 4wd only engages after the clicks. My guess if no clicks is faulty push button.

5 OR 6 TIMES. each time is different and sometimes it will go to 4 lo and sometimes it will go to 4hi. the module i hear is right behind my drivers seat behind the lefthand interior panel. it will eventually go into 4hi. i have to put a new engine in my bronco so i will clean the connector to the motor.

If you're hearing clicks each time you press the button then the control box is trying to do its thing. There's even a self-diagnosis feature (write-up here on TRS in tech section). When my '88 had issues there were UTube video that were helpful. The worst problems are the ones that aren't consistent.
