I have a 1987 2.9L Ranger that has the stock ehxaust.

I was thing of running headers to a flowmaster 40, the part I need help with is what type of headers should I get/ also I heard I should use a 2 1/2 inch pipe or a 2 1/4 inch pipe which would be better and where would I buy this? I was looking at Summit Racing but this is where Im not very knowlagable.

Then to the starting. I dont know what it is some days it starts with just a turn and some times it needs a little cranking to get it to turn over and I dont know what it is.

Then last, I heard it would be good to convert it to and Electric Fan, and if this is true what type should I get.

Thank you for all the help in my situation it is all very appreciated.

You really won't get much out of headers and an open 2.5" exhaust without some kind of tuning. It might even kill some power. If you just want the sound, no secondary cat and 2.5" with the FM40 straight out the back works well.

Electric fans free up your engine and some horsepower but can be unreliable depending on how you set it up. You do risk overheating slightly more often.
