My credo
Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
I'm not trying to start an argument here... but that is like saying... C rated tires can handle more weight if you increase the air pressure.

We both know that isn't true. I'm not a tire specialist by any stretch... But there are differences between C and E rated tire construction. It's evident by the weight difference of the two.

Are there situations that an E rate tire can shine on a little ranger... of course. I'm just pretty damn sure that I will avoid those instances and save the weight for my purposes.
I don't think is saying to over inflate them. Most e rated tires are rated for 80 psi. He is just saying that the closer you get to max psi the worse the ride will be. Rangers already do not weigh a lot as it is. On my heavier z71 the tires ride great aired up. The op will just have to find a low(but safe) pressure that gives him the best ride quality with the tires.

Sometimes I hate the way mind mind works... I'm way to analytical. It took me a month or so for me to decide on my new pair of hunting boots. Tires are turning out to be an even more difficult decision for me to make.

Craig... I do understand what donaldcon was saying... lower the pressure and the ride gets better. We all agree. Still doesn't change the fact they weigh more. My mind tells me to keep the weight of a wheel/tire package to the lowest I can make it. Without changing the end goal.

Life is about compromise... I'm gonna have to alter what I want to what is available.

I had overlooked the 16 inch Goodyear Duratracs... Thanks for the heads up. Gonna pour another cup of coffee and let the analyzing begin. lol

For the cost of some of these wheels and tires you can actually buy another truck.

I already have two Denise... and almost bought another one a couple weeks ago. No more room... no more time.

I did read your truck thread this morning... nice little truck coming around nicely. However your handy work with the wooden canoes... impressive. Makes my modified old towne guide canoe kinda look like a booger.

Awww, Thank you. When it was "we" instead of me. The plan was to open a small craft & restoration shop, when I retired. Of course the only thing that happened was me retired. Lol.

My favorite all around tire size is 235/85r16 which only comes in an e rating. I've had them on several rangers. I ran them a bit softer than 30 psi though for more even wear.

I took the factory 245/75/16 E rated ran @28 psi off my 03 FX4 and put on a set of 265/70/15 C rated run @32 psi and it's got a way smoother ride. I used to have some 285/75/16 Toyo Mt on my Cherokee wheeler and could pull the valve core out drop all the air and hardly bulged the tires.

Boo Toyo for light Rigs.
