does anyone know if 10" drum brake backing plates from a 8.8 will bolt onto a 7.5" axle or are the tube diameters and bolt spacing different?

Just replaced one of mine....I always had trouble w/ the 10" since new, locking up.
If I had the $, I would replace the 10" w/ the smaller ones....I hear that fixes the problem.

its already got the 9" backing plates but since im running 30" tires i wanted to go with the bigger brakes. the current axle has 10" brakes on it so i was just going to swap all of the brake stuff over, but then ill have a good axle that needs more parts before it can be used again. i would like to keep it complete so that in the event that my new axle meets a gruesome fate i can just bolt the old one back in.

Ranger/Aerostar backing plates will work.

Explorer drum backing plates use a different pilot diameter and mounting bolt pattern.
