Thank you, I'm new on this site,
I'm not sure what years are the same. I haven't purchased this yet but the owner says that the drl will come on whenever. Even when the truck is off with the keys out

It doesn't help that the US rangers didn't get the DRL feature (as far as I know) so your sample of people that might know the answer is significantly reduced.

in the 2005 wiring diagram book it's part of the smart junction box. I don't know if it has a separate relay inside the SJB.

Ok but because the drl's are required in Canada I doubt the dealer will disconnect them. Even if they could. This guy just pulls the pos cable off the battery when not in use so it doesn't drain.
Not sure what the smart box is worth or if that's even the problem yet.

There is a few Canadians that are regular posters here. They might not check in the introduce yourself section of the forum. You might want to post your problem in either the general section or the electrical section where people are more likely to look.

Welcome to the forum and I hope one of them can help you.

Not to get off topic here but why do the daytime running lights require a "module"? It's just headlights that you can't turn off so why are they not just simply wired to come on when the truck is running? What about that requires any form of sophistication? :dunno:

They run at a lower wattage for one. I'm sure there is some circuitry to make sure the turn on and off with the truck and are disabled when the head lights are turned on.

Most of them do. I think it has to do with not killing head light life by running full blast all the time. But that is purely conjecture on my part with no authoritative sources to point to other than they run at reduced power if there isn’t a separate DRL in the system.
