Ok, so I went to a retail store yesterday to pick up some trans fluid to do a filter change on my 5r55e.

I had to ask where the trans fluid was because the damn store doesn't put it front and center like my favorite parts shop does(my parts shop was closed :annoyed:) Keep in mind that I DID tell him what I was needing it for...

So the guy asks what vehicle it's for so he can find the right stuff. I tell him what i've got, he punches it in to the computer and tells me it takes 9.7L(10.25 quarts)

So not really thinking about it, I buy 2 5L jugs and go home.

Today I get the pan and filter out(THAT was an adventure all on it's own :annoyed:) clean things up a bit, throw it back together and start pouring the fluid in.

The first bottle went down great.

After 1/2 of the second bottle...I noticed fluid running out the vent pipe. :shok: :icon_confused:

Turns out, a trans filter change job only requires 4.4 quarts.

I figure I've got roughly just short of 8 quarts that I poured in there.

SO...on to my question...

Is there any way I can drain some of it out without having to drop the pan again?? Would be really nice if there was a drain plug on these damn things.

Thanks for any help you can give guys :icon_thumby:

You can unhook one of the trans cooler lines, and start the engine briefly or even disable the ignition and just crank the engine over and it will pump fluid out. It will probably make a mess, though.
