- A properly suspensioned Ranger can be safely airborne for up to 4 seconds at a time! =:O
Was about to remove my (badly rusted) shift motor, check out approx. 11 related items, do the pliers thing on the selector shaft just for grins, and generally drive around for a week (or three) in 2HI, sans shift motor... while perusing the U-Pull-It yard, and obsessing over 9 different schemes for conversion to manual, lulz.
THEN I caught some "cross talk" on another forum that the selector shaft is like a 3-yr-old on a sugar high, i.e. cannot be left "unattended". i.e. without a motor or Shiftster or SOMETHING to hold it in gear, it can/does slip or drift into neutral (or 4HI?) while driving along... Generally considered "bad form", esp. if on a date, or transiting a 3-left-turn-lanes mega-intersection. Can't have that.
What say ye RKIs? If true, will a rag and a popsicle stick do the trick?
Thanks in advance.
