do you have to seat c-clips

after i replaced wheel bearings and seals, i puth the axle shafts back in. do you have to reseat the c-clips or do you just push them back on? its a ford 7.5 open diff

You just need to put the c-clip in the groove of the axle shaft inside the diff, then pull the axle itself outward so that the clip is seated within the recess of the side gear. After installing both clips then reinstall the differential cross shaft.
