I've got a hook on an engine for my Vic, but I've got nothing to set it on while I prep for the install and remove whats left of the engine that's still in it. I don't have anything to set it on tho, and I have been making calls and it doesn't seem I know anyone whom I could borrow one from. Are there any common and acceptable substitutes? I can't fab one, or afford to buy one.

Set it on a couple of old tires if you have nothing else.

Well, for removing the top end stuff, just set it pan down into the largest tire you got. Might have to brace it a bit from tipping over but in a pinch, get creative.

The problem is, time is of the essence for the purchase of the engine, and while I can probably purchase it within the next 3 days, I haven't gotten ahold of a hoist, and the friend helping me with all this is going out of town thursday or friday so it'd be sitting over the weekend mostly intact. During that time I'm gonna focus on stripping more off of the shortblock thats left in the Vic like everything related to the accessories drive, fuel lines, etc. and trying to clean soome stuff up.

I've got 2 averaged sized tires on steel rims, and thats about it. I could probably get ahold of things for bracing like scrap wood or a pallet or something though, I'm just not sure how sturdy it will be.

An old tire always works well for me.
