I'm looking to do a duraspark conversion on my 83 2.8l. I'm having an impossible time finding a distributor for my project. I know the mustang II and pinto distributors work, but I cannot find one. I'm wondering if one of these "universal fit" distributors would work? How would I know which one to get?

I don't see anything there with a vacuum advance unit and the ones I looked at said "locked out", which I take to mean no centrifugal advance, either. Some were for use with crank trigger systems. You would do better looking for a 77-78 Mustang II distributor because the 75-6 Duraspark system was slightly different.

The Cardone unit is a stock reman so it should work, The bottom one might work but it's too shiny for me.
