Sorry haven't been getting notifications.
Didn't realize I had to watch my own thread.lol
It's all good, I have the same issue and forget about threads I started sometimes. Few weeks/months later someone will quote me in a reply and I'll be like, where did that come from? Oh yeah! I remember now.

So how is the Britian distributor working for you now? Still going good? I should probably see about getting one to put in the shelf for when/if I get my 2.8 back on the road. As far as I know my DS distributor is still in good shape, but if not it might be even more difficult to find one then.

It's been good.i was going to link where I bought mine, but looks like he is currently sold out.sellers name is (simonbbc).
Can't seem to find my purchase info on the carburetor.
When I looked it up I used the suggested carb on the swap info and in the tech article.

AzLizard, which distributor did you purchase from siminbbc? Was it the ford v6 cologne bosch-type? I am wanting to get rid of the computer control on my ranger but can’t find a DS distributed anywhere so I’m chasing down your lead hoping to keep my ranger running.

I found a 2.8 distributor on ebay from Britain for a capri/cortina. It come with a powerspark electronic ignition(similar to pertronix) ,cap and rotor ready to drop in. Shipped, aprox $165.00 and made it in 4 days.

We finished the install today and it works. My truck has never idle smoother and it runs great.
We used the green wire from the stock coil to the module plug on factory distributor. Hooked distributor end to black wire out of new distributor and the coil end to the - on a msd blaster2 coil. Then cut the thicker red wire out of module plug and hooked it to the red wire out of distributor and the coil end to the + side of blaster coil.
I did have to change the plug wires. And i also installed a 2150 non feedbck carbView attachment 102935
Links?

And this would work with my current tfi ignition right? Just splice into wires and reset timing? Or what all would i need, curious if i should do this to my ranger
Your TFI is bolted to your old distributor and will leave with your old distributor. This new one you are looking at has a different module made into it. I haven't seen a diagram, but the description says it replaces points. If that is true, the red wire will need ignition on power and the black wire will hook to the coil negative.

What non feedback carb can i replace with? If i do go this route do i also just buy a new ignition coil and i can get rid of the tfi stuff? Can eeciv also be removed and map sensor?

No need for the computer or it's sensors and wiring.

You can find out if this distributor will drive the square TFI coil on the fender, it might.

I bought a 2100 2 barrel carb off ebay and used it. I looked and the smallest one I could find had a 1.14 venturi in it. And I had to look awhile to find it. It worked fine. The original carbs for these engines had 1.08 venturi but they are hard to find like the duraspark II distributors are hard to find.

My last question is the fuel bowl vent valve, since emissions under the hood will be bypassed, can i cap it off, or just keep charcoal canistor and run it how it should be ran?

I don't think the vent valve is truly emissions related, but is so the carb will work properly. In other words the vent valve needs to be open to atmosphere or use the charcoal can. Personally I would use the can if I have the parts.
