That eBay bracket would be better on the eyes then the factory Ford one as long as it can hold up and is strong enough.

Did get some work started on the SC adapter.

And another set of valve covers.

Got copper gaskets, and the polished accessory brackets. Also did some clearancing to my rocker studs and got all them adjusted.

Got my lifters all straightened out finally. Replaced one, tore apart 4 others and soaked them in PB to get them unstuck.

Got the bottom end finished up minus the oil pan. Also installed the timing cover, water pump, and crank pulley.

I am thinking that I am going to pull the GT40 intake off my Mountaineer and install it for now. Get the wiring done and motor running, then self tune the blower.

Thanks. Its never ending. I'm actually fairly close to having it running again. Still a ton that I need to do before show season, but at least I will be able to move it soon.

Tried to install the polished accessory brackets, but they don't work with the Explorer water pump and timing cover. And I can't swap them out without also swapping the crank pulley out.

Valve covers on. Removed the lower 2 vac line barbs to clear the taller valve covers. Then tapped the holes to seal them off. Don't think the drivers side breather is going to fit.

Exhaust, driveshaft, steering rack, wiring harness, and Explorer accessories installed and got it back on all fours. Hopefully the Ex brackets will be temporary.

List to do to get it running:
spark plugs, coils, wires
install starter, battery
wire up starter, alternator
fill fluids

Updates?

Sure.

Got her out of the garage. Installed the turbines on the rear, filled up the fluids, installed the starter, ran the power steering lines and radiator hoses, decided to remove the ac system, and started work on the coil on plug brackets.

Stuffing 265/50s

COPs. Nevermind the rusted bolts. They are on the list.

Almost had it ready to fire, and noticed fuel leaking.

Got that fixed. Now I am trying to get it to turn over, but its really hard. I can do it by hand, but its much harder than it should be. The starter will just bump it a little bit.

Was having trouble getting it turn turn over.
Opened up the bottom end. loosened all the rod bolts and made crank easy to turn. Started tightening them up one at a time. And the third one made hard again. Crank looks good, bearing doesn't. Guess its time to plastigage.

Took all the caps off and polished the journals. Noticed when I torqued 5 (one I had a problem with) and had the cap off of 1, I could spin it. So I hit the edges (contact points between the two rods) with some 600 grit where there was some rough spots. All seems good now.

I need to get some new bolts before putting the oil pan back on. I didn't notice before but the Explorer bolts are a hair too long to tighten all the way with a Mustang pan.

I have a video as soon as it uploads.

Picked up the correct oil dipstick. The F150 one I had rigged in there wasn't going to cut it.

Rain made it look cleanish.

Had a problem with it backfiring. Took a while to figure out. Too bad I got it after it destroyed a muffler. New one ordered.

Got the old alternator mocked up with the polished bracket. Took a bit to figure out a way to make it work, but I got it. Now I need to get the right bolts to mount it.

COP brackets done. Now for wiring. Also started on the PS pump adapter bracket.

Progress today. Mounted Explorer ps pump on polished bracket. Had to turn the pump and flip the pulley to make it work. Then mounted the resevoir. And the new muffler came in.

Ended up ditching the polished alt bracket. Had to move it up higher for the belt to clear.

Got it figured out. The wiring for coil 1 and 2 are on driver's side and 3 and 4 are on the passenger. I had them swapped. Found a 4.6 COP diagram. I'll update the pic with the Explorer wiring colors and post it later.

Here is the finished product.

Thanks.
Maiden voyage ended abruptly.

Only damage to actual car is a little bent metal that gets covered with the bumper. And I think the bumper is salvageable. The crack was actually already there and repaired once. A little sandable poly, a driver's side bracket, and a coat of paint is all she is going to need.

How she's sitting right now.

Stock rear bumper for now.

Grreat thread! Used to have an 03 focus as a DD. Can't wait for updates. Do you have 2 more 15" turbines for the front for that street drag look?
