im not an expert but in the 80s ford put out a 2.2l and 2.3l diesel engines one made by Toyo Kogo and the other made by Mitsubishi they didnt make alot of them and im sure not many people bought them (i could be wrong about that) theres more info in the tech libraryI need more info on these rare rangers

(Turbo Diesel Shown) The Ranger was introduced in mid-1982 for the 1983 model year and had an available 4-cylinder 59 hp 2.2 L Mazda/Perkins diesel. Coilsprings.com can wind up whatever sort of spring a guy needs. Lifted, lowered, stiffer, whateverA 4BT cummins would be a cool swap- if you can find front coils that can handle the weight.
I think they ran the same trannies as the gas rangers....hence a transfer case should be easy to come by(2) Ford Ranger Diesel - $1,000 (Gadsden)
I would seriously considering buy them if I KNEW there was a way to hook them to a 4x4 transfer case.
