And just in case the add is removed.

Thats right, all you delivery guys. This is the cats meow. A ranger powered by a VW TDI. It still uses the ford 5 speed and its not mounted transversely. This is exactly how it came from Ford, just a VW turbo diesel inplace of the 2.3L.
I use 58 liters to do 1020 kms which puts it at 49.68mpg!! do I really have to say more?

I have been following it for a while now. I intend doing the same swap on mine only 4wd. Although I hope to get mine a touch cleaner looking, but his is pretty nice.

I believe for their weight/vehicle class, a diesel engine is very difficult (read expensive) to get to pass emissions. While they could have easily gotten away with it pre '02/'03 thereabouts, the new standards are a little hard to reach with a small diesel.

They're also still convinced the american public won't go for one. Because there are Diesels that can pass (Like VW diesels) so it can be done.

So with the car sales in a slump, bringing in a really expensive engine and cutting the costs so people would buy one isn't going to help them make any money.

No money to be made = No product.
