I didn't think codes was a thing on a 2.8?

Regardless, does everything else move freely? Parking brake not on, no brakes stuck, clutch releases fine, etc.
Your profile concerns me. I see 2 tires sizes listed on a 4wd. Both of which are significantly larger than anything the truck would've had factory. Do you know if it's been regeared?

It has a EECIV computer just like the fuel injected rangers and the 5.0 mustangs. Unless it has been converted over. That is why everyone is looking for late 70's mustang II 2.8 distributors. Those distributors do not require a computer, so you can get rid of all that junk and put a conventional carb on it also. The computer controls the carb and the distributor, along with all the emissions stuff.

Here's how. I believe the connectors are over on the pass side engine compartment.
