Did ford ever use anything lower than 4.10 in the 7.5"

Title says it all, did anything ever come off the assembly line with anything lower than a 4.10 in the 7.5"? I'm still debating a rear swap. My truck has 4.10's and runs great but it hardly ever see's the highway so 4.56 wouldnt hurt. I also don't tow so really no need for the bigger brakes or shafts of the 8.8. Just thinking the 4.56 gears might give me better mpgs around town.

according to the Tech Page, code 89 for 1999-2001 was a 7.5 open with 4:56 gears

for new gears;

Cool thanks. I knew i could buy them aftermarket but my plan was to just check the yards for vehicles that had those gears stock. Now that I know they exist and what the axle code is i can start looking.

I've gotta guess that it was a custom order thing. I've only seen 4:10 being listed as lowest in a from the factory configuration.

Sounds like a 99-01 Ranger, probably a scarce freak of a fleet thing.

good luck. several Ford parts sources don't have listings for a 7.5 @ 4.56
car-parts.com doesn't list it either.
