Who has filled their tags so far?

I got mine last Saturday, medium size whitetail doe and my fiance got a young whitetail buck on Sunday.

We got about 45lbs of meat from the pair, kept a couple back straps and a couple roasts and ground up the rest with 20% bacon ends & pieces. I'm not a huge fan of venison steaks but the burgers are out of this world.

No plans on doing any hunting until rifle season. Too much crap going on to buy stuff for archery or black powder. Hell, I haven’t had time for small game at all this year.

When is rifle season for you guys? Ours is the month of November for the hills, I think the rest of the state is Nov 15-30th.

What is this “rifle season” you speak of? Like muzzleloader? Muzzleloader and archery is going now. I hope to go shotgun season, first weekend of December.

Same here, except I have done a good bit of small game. I didn't get my bird tags this year, except for turkey, which I have yet to see one except at the store.

Soon. I think our rifle season starts late in November. I know my dad and his brothers have a Thanksgiving day tradition of going to sight the deer rifles one last time, but I don't know the actual start date for this year.

PA has distinct seasons, and rules, for muzzleloader and rifle.

I was joking, we are not trusted to hunt with rifles in IA.

If you think that one is small..... you haven't seen the waif-like deer we have in central Texas ;)

"It was like a deer, only smaller" to quote my dad.....

That doesn't look real big.
It was not a big deer. 3 does came in. 1st one spotted me in the stand and backed off. This smaller one stepped forward and stood still.

I'm pretty happy with it. I hunt more for the meat than trophy. Never actually bagged a buck before but taken many does.

Still got 2 deer tags to fill before end of season so hoping for a nice sized buck during the rut

Allegheny County is like that too. Shotgun slugs are “safer” for everyone. You know, the county that Pittsburgh is the county seat?

I only hunt for meat, I don't care about trophy. But even still, there are a lot of animals I have passed on this year because they weren't worth my time to shoot them.

My last mid-week squirrel trip before the time change I found the nursery of the farm I hunt. So many squirrels, all over the place, oblivious to my presence, and not one of them big enough to be worth the pellet I'd shot it with, let alone my time in cleaning it.

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
I spent 7 days in Northern Michigan over Thanksgiving week. I held off buying a deer tag until I had a chance to look around for a day. Glad I did. The deer population was on a pretty good comeback in that area for a few years... but after getting a blanket of 4 inches of fresh snow the first night... then spending most of the next day driving many miles of trails... I could count on one hand how many fresh tracks we came across. Needless to say... I never bought a deer tag and spent most my time fishing. The fishing wasn't all that good either but managed a couple. I honestly believe the economic shut down up there forced a lot of the locals to fill their freezers with venison. I predict many of the local businesses up there will never reopen their doors. The only businesses I saw that appeared busy were the recreational Marijuana stores.... and there were no shortage of those. I would say in my travels to fishing spots I saw 25 Marijuana stores... they're everywhere!
