i can drill and grind and cut stuff off. I dont have the axle to look at near my truck. I havent bought it yet was making sure it would fit and how much in parts it would cost. The guy has a bunch of jeep stuff. what all would i need. Some people were talking cutting coil buckets off and putting different ones on so that is why im asking questions. I dont care which way just need to know what way is easiest/cheapest

Where.....is the fun in that?

:buttkick:

Ruff stuff.....pretty much a one stop shop for off road modifications....coil or leaf

Coil or leaf......u joint off road..does van applications...but you can adapt it to anything...

Same with Old jeep and Toyota stuff.....places that sell things for those rigs...all have adaptable beautiful components to work with.

Off road designs does square body gm for the most part...but very adaptable. The stuff they put out is awesome...if I was putting a gm axle in a rbv....it would be considered to use their coilovers system. The price reflects the engineering quality...and it is rocky mountain proven.

At the end of the day though....James duff is the best bang for the buck generally speaking...for 1200 or so for base parts.... adapting thier arms and trac bar system to whatever axle, is a proven high performing system I have rode on and or used and observed on the Rubicon....hammers....Hollister...Moab... Happy jack....all over Tenn and ky...

A few hundred to farm out the welding work...

And really you do want thier coil buckets.

The rbv stock buckets are built for the arc of ttb...so with soft high travel coils you need to "candt" or otherwise offset the lower base of the spring seats to control coil bow...it is compromise and not always predictable.

adjustable height coil buckets are ideal. You can keep handling and ride height dialed in easily that way....

the earlier link to the Rusty's system is the easy button. It is made for the jeep axle...and is easily adaptable at the frame side with cutting and drilling.... Dial in may prove to be a pia...but it has been done.

there are many ways to adapt track bar and steering links...

for strictly leaf.....

the system on my truck is made out of scrap metal....

and you certainly can lay out an all bolt on setup with just some 6 inch channel....and 1/4 in 3x3 angle iron and store bought or home made hangers

Just a drill and a grinder.

ok i found a better axle that has leaf springs and lockouts. It would be better than the cad setup. I think for 75. its worth a shot. I hope leaf spring will work.

I think he's talking about adding one to the front... which is doable but needs fabrication, although I think James Duff or someone made a swap for it?
So it would seem. Bad assumption on my part since the OP was talking about a RWD Ranger. Since the OP didn't correct anyone, it would seem they want to install it in the front.

Yeah....it's tough to decide.

These days I can get a set of useable super duty axles for 3 to 600....both.

A decent set of shafts and joints can cost more for a Dana 30.

But....use is key. The big axles come with severe weight penalty...and you need all new wheels ect.....

The Dana 30....can be nickle and dimed over time and be perfect for a 33 in tire ranger....even abused. The ability to keep the wheels and low weight are a good place to start.
and those SD axles have so many options for 4 link trusses, leaf sprung trusses. it's all so easy these days to get SD swap parts

well i forgot the jeeps axles were axle over spring. It was a passenger drop. im guessing for 150. the high pinion cad axle would be best. Im going to call a couple of junk yards to see what they got. Im leaning toward left springs nice and easy. Not sure how hard steering linkage would be? I have a 6" drop steering arm.
