I'm not sure what you want. The pinion gear is specific to the ratio of the ring gear. It would be easiest to replace the whole pumpkin that had the correct ratio gearset in it. Or are you talking about something else? Pic would help...

My credo
I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
You can’t just replace the pinion, you need a ring gear also. They’re a matched set.

I don't see any on Bronco Graveyard. Probably going to have to pull a hole 3rd memeber from a rig at a junk yard. I know D28 parts are getting hard to find and I think the pandemic killed a lot of these guys that were making odd ball things any more.

It might be time to upgrade to a D35. I've got 2 D35s that are 373s in my parts explorers right now.

would I be able to place a D35 in without a lot of other changes or upgrades needed?
How much would you want for one of your D35?

Gotcha. I am in Rapid City and thought if you were local I could get you fixed up. I think I have a spare D35 in my stash with 3.73s in it. There are also a few older Rangers in junkyards here that might have what you need if you just wanted a replacement differential.

For the D35 swap you need both axle beams and everything attached to them and the steering linkage from the donor truck.

Pass... auto hubs, who knows what condition the rest is in. Might end up dropping another couple hundred bucks on brakes, wheel bearings, seals, u-joints... pass.

About $200 is my limit for one picked up locally that needs no new parts.

I’d be willing to drive to Rapid City if you could set me up with a complete D35. It’s my sons pickup and I’d really like to get it going for him. You can also email me at aforests@gmail.com

Let me look through my parts pile and see what all I have.

Used to keep a lot of D28 parts on hand but I rarely need them these days.
