D35 install...beam before carrier?

Hey guys,

I am refurbishing a D35 axle and I am close to putting it all back together. One question for those who have done this. Is it easier to bolt up the carrier to the beam and then install it on the truck or the other way around (installing the beam on the truck and then the carrier using a trans jack or something). I know I can get it done either way, just want to know whats easier.

I assembled my carrier to the beam before putting the beam under the truck. In my mind, it was better because I could manipulate both parts easily to line up bolt holes. But which way is really easier?

Myself, I would Mount the carrier to the beam first. It made it easier to get everything aligned during the installation.

I pulled a axleshaft out of a second gen which requires removing the housing from the beam.

On a stock height truck it is very difficult to get the housing far enough away from the beam to get the c clip out. I suspect nigh impossible to get the diff housing fully removed/installed with the beam in place. Not fun at all.

For sure install it as an assembly.
