Picking up a 6" lift for the BII as soon as the guy finds out what shipping will cost, and I'm going bigger on tire size. So my question is how would a Dana 35 hold up to 37's? And I'm swapping in an Explorer clutch and M5OD at the same time, how would it be with 4.56's and 37's? Just wondering if anyone has run this combo so far, how hard it is on clutches and axles. Thanks!

My credo
"220, 221, whatever it takes."
I still don't know that that's going to fit 37's on a BII without a Sawzall. Assuming the tires fit, I'd run 5.13's with that 2.9 unless you want to live in low range all the time, especially with a manual tranny. First gear in an RBV manual ain't all that low.

Sawzall work already done...

33's on stock height rig. I pretty much live in low range off road anyway, so it's no change.

I'd be wanting 5.38 gears for those tires on a 2.9l, though 5.13 is the lowest you can get for the D35/8.8, so 5.13 it would have to be.

Do all the mods outlined in the RBV axles FAQ (Jeep hubs, u-joint mods, etc) and under a fairly light BII it should hold up OK with 37s if you're nice to it. Just know you are right about at it limit though.

Pick light 37s while your at it....and skinny too! My 14.50 wide Toyo's were outrageously heavy compared to my new MTR K's. You might want to look into the D44 knuckle swap for larger brakes and a better wheel bearing setup (and larger bolt pattern) while your at it, although not necessary its a good upgrade.

With 4.56s your gonna want a lower gear all the time....I know, I have them. Go 5.13s if your buying gears, youll regret it if you dont! Especially without a 4.0L.

If you're going to be doing all that stuff to the axles, why dont you just solid axle swap it? Seems easier and stronger in the long run. Plus you can get just about any lift height you want, leafs are far less expensive than IFS suspension lifts.

Thanks Andrew! I know my next tire will be the new MT/R, I was just trying to decide how big to go since I knew I could fit 37's. I already have 4.56's new in box waiting to go in, just wanted to see if it would work out... Don't want to SAS, I quite like TTB.

I would try and sell the 4.56s and get 5.13s..... Im going 5.13's and I have a 4.0L! Just so ya know the MTR K's are true to size, a real 37.

I'd go with the 35's (you can stick to 15" rims, 37s need 17s) and your still on a safe range for the D35 up front and your 4.56's should suffice.
