WTF is it about customer service nowadays? Why does all of it suck?

I order a pizza, its screwed up.

I go to insert store here and get treated like im an annoyance.

I call a business to get something done, never recieve calls back. Then when you call they act like youre a nusiciance.

Go to a gas station. They treat you like a criminal if you forget to prepay and try to just use the pump.

Take something into get worked on, you get 3 different stories from 3 different people.

You guys know the drill. It doesnt seem to matter any more what place you go to, what service you try to use, youre always dealing with people who you can tell genuinely hate their life and are only there to bring home a pay check. Which is fine, but when you treat the CUSTOMER like shit, when that CUSTOMER is paying your paycheck, you think a light would go off,

.....and it doesnt matter if its a 7.15/hr mcdonalds worker or some shop charging you 85-110/hr to fix what you messed up. Its the same damn thing. Everywhere you go. Its either lazyness, incompetence, an i dont care attitude, or any combination thereof.

Is it just my general geographic area? Or is it like this all across the US? I dont recall it being this bad untill the late 00's.

/endrant.

IMO, it is the participation trophy generation. They feel like the world owes them the life of an Instagram millionaire, so they crap on everyone until they make it as a professional YouTuber. They literally think they "should" be famous or rich, just because the Card-ass-ions are famous for nothing, and this little job is getting in their way. how dare you expect them to do a job that they have no interest in. Hell even the cool looking tatted chik at the "Dismount Otto", who I thought, "Cool this chik is gonna know her shit!", would rather be at the local coffee shop discussing Arabica aromas and earthy undertones. Nobody takes pride in their craft anymore. My granpappy told me to be the best at whatever it was I was going to be, even if I was a trash man on the back of a garbage truck, "Be the beast damn garbage man you can be" but then My generation went and said" F THAT, I'm not gonna whoop my kids, my kids are gonna grow up just fine." Well guess what? Your kid is grown now and wont do their FFFFFFFlippin' job.

Edit: Sorry Rusty, didn't want to steel your RANT, but it grabs my goat too.

We are getting older and older people AWAYS complain about the world "going to hell in a handbasket" or similar, whatever that means, lol

From a sermon 700+ years ago:
The world is passing through troubled times. The young people of
today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for
parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint. They talk as
if they knew everything, and what passes for wisdom with us is
foolishness with them. As for the girls, they are forward, immodest
and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress.

And from 2,000+ years ago
"What is happening to our young people?
They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents.
They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions.
Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?

Seems what goes around comes around

Watching you try to put a carburetor on it would be entertaining...

I have found that some people are generally an annoyance. After working in retail for a few years I was able to peg them just by the way they parked with about a 90% accuracy rate.

On the whole things do seem to be worse than I expect, but at least in my area, its not too bad. I get treated with respect and get helpful answers most of the time when I have to deal with employees while out places, but I also usually am dealing with people who are either older than me, or working on commission, or both. When I walk into a parts store, or Lowes, or Walmart I very much have the Ron Swanson approach.
