Cruise Control 1994 Ford Ranger 4.0

I am troubleshooting a non-functioning cruise control on a 1994 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0. It is the older vacuum based system. I keep finding a cruise control relay listed among the parts websites. The relay is not in the fuse box or junction panel under the hood. Does anyone know it's location (assuming it uses one). Thanks!

I looked in my EVTM for the '93 trucks and don't see a cruise control relay. There is an amplifier module that would be behind the glove box in the cab. Maybe that is what you need to find. Here is a pdf scan of several pertinent pages from the EVTM. I would expect '93 and '94 to be very similar. Hopefully this will get you in the ballpark.

If you pull the glove box and look up, you'll see one module. That's your cruise control module.

I don't see a relay in my Haynes manual, but I do see a fuse. Check #10 in the cab.

You can self-diagnose these modules. Hold the speed control "OFF" switch while turning the ignition key on. Be sure the engine is off and don't start it for the test. The cruise control light on your dash will flash once to indicate that the SCM works and is in diagnostic mode. It'll flash up to 5 times more. 2 flashes indicates defective brake pedal or clutch sensor. 3 flashes indicates the brake deactivation switch, 4 flashes indicates the speed signal is out of range or sensor is defective, and 5 flashes indicates a defective speed control servo. Then you can let go of the switch. If the light does not come on at all, pull the module and check for power. If you have power, replace module.

Just after this test the module will partially open the throttle plate.

Okay so I know this is an old post, nevertheless, this self-test does not work - at least not on my 94. I've been working on other things for awhile now and not driving it, so how would i know it stopped working
Anyway it did, dunno why or when, so this is new and fun.
Fuses are good.
Brake lights work. That's all
i know so far
