I do have genuine Ford keys. I just had a second set cut to make sure I have spares.

Ok, I got a new Motorcraft Fuekl Filter today FG-991...put it in. BAM she started right up??

*Question is I had a code for EVAP leak before this. I noticed when changing the filter that one side, the black clip side closest to engine does not "Click" like it is missing the clip. The other side is metal and has a clip. Is it missing on the right side?? Could that cause the EVAP leak code?

Thanks for all the Education. I'm not saying it "fixed" right; but it ran fine...just worried about the clip on the fuel filter...

Thanks!

Missing fuel line retainer clip will not cause an evap leak code as far as I know. (loose gas cap or even just opening the fuel system will, so clear the code and see if it comes back).
There is a 2 pronged plastic clip that slides in from the side and keeps that held together - yes you ARE missing that clip on the right side from my look at your picture.

Nice! Is this a Junkyard item or is it something I can find at an Auto Zone? My only issue finding parts is usually getting the part name correct....lol.

*Thanks Sensei! I need to drive!

"ford" "fuel line retainer clip" amazon/ebay/autozone/oreilly's/napa hell even walmart came up in my search, but I bet wally's are order / shipping wait.
If you were getting it from the yard, be real gentle/careful pulling it out especially the older it is, try prying a 35 year old piece of plastic out of something at the yard and it is 90% chance of little plastic crumbled bits in your hand.
To make it easier to pull out A) use as wide a screwdriver as you can get behind it B) compress the fuel lines together to take tension/pressure off the clip. For me, the gas money to get to the 'yard, I would just buy it from the local oreilly's. (it's another 20 minutes further down the road.) It's a "10 cent part" - sure they want $5-$7 for it now.
don't even have to really look for ford specific in your search, gm & honda use the same style on a number of vehicles.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
dont run it without the clip. it will blow off and spray gas all over the exhaust.

you can fold a zip tie on each side to get by

Thanks. I got the clips with what you said and put it right in. So, for now, she's on the road again like Willie Nelson.

*I am sure I'll be back soon enough.......

Thanks, Brain 75 and Ranger Station!
