Alright a little back story, my gf bought a 94 ranger to dd bit the bed was garbage so she sent me to get a parts truck for her (silly girl.. ill explain later)

Came home with this 97 3.0 stepside for $800 its already on 38.5 boggers

Used to be so clean... lol Probably coulda put fenders and 33s on and ran it as a dd

So i pulled the box and proceeded to wheel this thing all winter

Did some trading and ended up with a tube bed

First real mud run it was open/open and the truck did ok but i cant wheel an unlocked rear so i got home dragged the Lincoln over and proceeded to do what i figured would be a death sentance to the 7.5, hasnt broke yet :icon_thumby:

Went on another local mud run and blew the slave

So then my regular wheeler is having issues so this truck came north for our may 24 trip

Was a good trip nothing broke. Let my gf drive apparently she drives offroad like tim cameron lol

Hard to tell but the front tires are about 2 ft off the ground

Came home with a few dents

Got home sunday ran over to my buddies farm aaand

So i pulled it all apart to replace the shaft and tacked all my u joint caps

And figured seeing as i found a weak link why not make it weaker out came the Lincoln again...

Which worked good until i went to my buddies dads farm
Got wedged between two trees ended up breaking both front shafts and the steering box

And thats where the build begins ill update more later gotta start work now

Nice.

I hope you're going with 1 tons...

Is that 360 gonna be backed up by a 4 speed and an NP205?

As far as I know you can. I think there is a company that makes gears for it too to drop low down to 3:1 instead of 1.97:1. Or you could do a 203/205 doubler.

You may need 1 tons with the 360...

Maybe... we'll see ill cross that bridge when i get to it.

Seeing as im doing nothing at work ill try and add some more here.

This is why i had to ditch the clip. Getting out of a forest with no steering isnt easy

Out came a crappy bender and random pipe ive had forever along with the sawzall

.
Then it was onto un cluttering what was under the hood. Cut out alot of unessacary plugs that didnt go anywhere and all the wiring for headlights turn signals etc.

Ive got a few things extra id like to ditch as well
Airbag sensor?

Dunno...

Heater relay?

The lower plug on the heater box. The box is smashed so i can see it has a coil in it for what? All i need heat for is winter so i dont need multiple settings, a/c etc

The lower plug is the blower motor resistor for the various fan speeds, the black cube is an air bag crush sensor, the other plug behind the driver headlight is for the ABS module I believe.

Ok cool so the airbag crush sensor is garbage the abs thing is garbage. And as for the heater can i get rid of it and be stuck with one speed or should i keep it and just run the wires across the firewall?

The black cube was under the drivers headlight. The flat bade thing (abs?) Was under the passenger headlight and the box with the relays was beside the passenger side body mount

You would have to bypass the resistor. I think it would just be a matter of looping the power in to the wire that goes to the motor.

Alright thanks i think im just going to keep it all.

For this airbag sensor can i just trace the wires back to the plug and un pin them or will it set som some safety thing off itd just be the same as unplugging it wouldn't it?.

As for that thing we think is abs i popped the cap off and of the 9 wires going in only two have pins? I dunno what to do with that either

Ok so this used to go to a charcoal canister im assuming thats what it was anyways rectangle plastic box. I pulled it and plugged the line

It goes to the intake so im guessing its vaccum?

Question is can i plug it at the intake and ditch the wiring too?

Got the hood cut down and basic tube work done. Need to get a grill so i can add more in behind it to protect the rad. Also going to add in some 2x4 crossmember that will end up being a hangar for my leaves.

Been stupid busy lately so thats about all ive done to this.
Helped a lady with her car show a few weeks ago had my girlfriend put her 63 mercury in the show and entered my f350 in the show came 3rd in loudest rev contest and tried to compete in my own bog lol turns out 7800lb trucks on bald 35s dont do so good in the mud.

Got home from the show drove to work for a week then blew the sector shaft seal in my steering box put new seal in and blew it again tried that a few times got fed up put a power steering box in and blew that seal. Figured i had a restriction in the lines removed them cleaned it out. Nope no restriction so i put a pump in it.

Same thing blew the seal so i got a 3rd power steering box dropped off while i was at work it was wrong so i had to take half my steering box from my ranger with grooves that wernt rounded out but had all broken internals, and put all my f350 internals into that case. Put it back in and we're good to go!

So i lifted it 4" as a reward. Lol
