Man... I hate when I see people using keys on my credit card machine... those things aren't cheap and people tend to use way more force then needed. I have hand sanitizer right at the counter... use your finger please.

This could be taken the wrong way by so many people on here lol. people are going to stubborn and destroy other peoples properties and really not care if their key is scratching your touch pad because they live in fear of the virus! Personally, i'd rather have a scratched up touchpad than a chance of the virus being on it. Touch pads aren't made to last more than a year anyway, technology will outdate it within a year so you'll be buying a new one anyway.

Keys don't work on touch screens.

I could see them being hard on buttons, the one I was using had hard plastic buttons and I wasn't trying to over do it. It was just the one time attemp.

I don't count birthday's anymore...just happy to be looking down at the ground instead of looking up
Damn, look at how far from normal we've come in such a short time....
Six weeks ago I was looking forward to rv trips, taking the Ranger to cruise in's and shows.
Mods were planning another 4 wheeling get together, and everyone was excited that winter/snow/salt slush would end.
Now we're arguing about using a pen, a key, or a finger to hit a touch pad cause you could catch the virus and get terminally ill.
Can't get near our friends, or loved ones that don't live with us, and when you see people in a store you have to go to, no one even looks you in the eye anymore, everyone looks down.
We miss our kids and grand kids, miss getting together with friends, but have to avoid them.
Gonna be a looong time before normal returns.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
That's OK, I don't think many of us would qualify as "normal" anyway.
Seriously though, this sucks and I hope never to see anything like it again.

The Trump administration is laying the foundation to push for a reopening of parts of the U.S. economy as early as the beginning of May amid rising pressure over unemployment numbers rivaling those during the Great Depression.

President Trump and top government officials in recent days have talked about seeing "glimmers of hope" and "light at the end of the tunnel" while publicly discussing ideas for how to revive the economy.

The president has floated reopening businesses in parts of the country that do not have outbreaks. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday unveiled guidelines meant to encourage those in critical sectors who have been exposed to the coronavirus but aren't showing symptoms to continue working.

But even with an aggressive approach and optimistic outlook, the decision to reopen the economy may largely be out of the federal government's hands.

Many governors have imposed strict measures to try and stamp out the virus, with some stay at home orders in place through the end of May or later, and public health experts warned that without significantly expanded testing and contact tracing capabilities, reopening the economy too soon could trigger a new wave of infections and death.

Use car keys to press buttons on key pads, you almost never put car keys in your mouth, lol
Unlike pencils or pens :)
I had to go back to see who mentioned using keys on credit card machines. Figures it would be an installer of these systems. You trying to boost sales figures? Should have just said use a hammer... you would get results quicker.

Actually I don't install them, just the wiring for them

If your normal transactions are under $100, and I think it was raised to $150 now, then processing can be TAP, so no keypad use

It is a weird thing here, there is no curve to flatten. Probably a good thing but it makes it hard to jump thru the hoops.

Right now there are very few cases in rural Iowa. But all the restaurants are more or less closed if they don't have drive thru and you have to hurt yourself with a chainsaw to see anyone at the hospital.

I had a hospital board member come in yesterday because his tractor was leaking. Hospital is hurting bad because they are getting ready for the big rush... so there is no business coming in. Nothing elective, few checkups, if you are not sick enough to pay for ER nobody is coming in "just to get checked out” if they are sick.

My aunt works in medical records, she is volunteering for meals on wheels (hospital does it) and helping the landscapers plant flowers just so she has something to do.

Maybe this is how it is supposed to work, I dunno.

Not everyone has those cards...

Also my system is set up that purchases over $25 dollars require a signature. Corporate/processing companies rules not mine.

I've tried to remember to tap my card instead of using the key pad. I must not do it right because sometimes I end up having to use the keypad.

Yes, my TAP cards are the same, I think someone told me you have to insert the card and do the PIN after X amount of TAPS or XXX amount of money spent
So if the card was lost or stolen monetary loss would be minimized, assuming thief doesn't have the PIN

Yes, I have noticed you have to hold your tongue in just the right position to get almost anything to work right :p
