If it's only bouncing just a letter or two in the word "normal" on the gauge, I still say that shows the thermostat is working properly.

I've had trouble with non-Motorcraft thermostats in the past, but they were usually slow to respond as shown dipped in boiling water. Sounds like you got a twitchy one.

Everything's working fine, as you've said and everyone here agrees. It's just that irritating gauge. I'd probably put a Motorcraft thermostat on it, cuz crap like that bothers me.
