Hi everyone, I'm new to Rangers and I'm about to buy a 2005 2WD ranger to work on, the models here in the uK have 6 stud hubs, are there any 5 stud hubs that are a direct swap (eg SN95 mustang?)
If so, what do I need to be looking out for?
Or would it be easier to swap the complete strut / leg for something else that bolts straight on?
I also want to lower it but can't afford to bag it ATM, are there coilover conversions available?
What rear axle will it have? I'm gpoing to be fitting a 400 hp Jag supercharged Jag V8 next year so I need a strong one, as this is a 2.4 N/A diesel, what axlewill it have?

Thanks in advance

Jeff

welcome to the forum.
your truck is a bit different than ours so we have to ask a few questions.

since you have 6 lug wheels the bearings may also be different.
I would start with looking up the part numbers for your bearings then see if they cross reference to others, say perhaps a Crown Vic or Mustang.
or even a stateside 2wd Ranger.

is the front suspension coil springs or torsion bars?
it would help if you posted a picture of your front suspension.

Thanks for the reply, I can't take any photos yet as I'm waiting for the truck to be delivered. As soon as it's landed I'll pop some pics up. I didn't know there were torsion bar variants, I assumed t hey were all coil sprung front legs and leaf springs on the rear!!!

It should be here in the next few days so as soon as it is I'll let you know :)

t least with the American Rangers, the 4X4 models had to get torsion bars to make room for the front axle shafts to get to the wheels.

Some RWD models have the torsion bar front end because of the suspension lift they got. It was cheaper and easier for Ford to adapt a 4X4 suspension that a coil spring suspension.

I don’t know if the European models ever got the lifted RWD trucks or not. All the ones I ever saw were all coil sprung but that experience was quite limited and I might not have seen all that was available.

We don’t have many members from other countries outside of the U.S. and Canada but we’ll help as best we can.
