History: Compressor worked fine up until I had to remove it to have the engine rebuilt. It sat in my shed for about 3 months before It was reinstalled. Upon recharging the system and turning it on I noticed these things:
-Constant tick tick tick tick tick from the compressor (no, it's not just cycling), maybe 3-4 ticks per second.
-When I turn the AC on it makes a long groaning/growling sound, engine also seems to bog down slightly during this time. This only happens when i first turn it on.
I replaced the clutch thinking thats what the problem was, but to no avail. Sounds became more prevalent and also the clutch now no longer cycles, it just stays engaged.
Also, despite all of these symptoms, it blows nice cool air,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has a problem inside. Did you recharge the AC correctly, or did you use a DIY can that you bought at a parts store?

Very possible it's overcharged! No, it would show as excessive high pressure on the "high" side guage, (smaller line to from condenser) because refrigerants compress.

The liquid can damage the compressor, the tick could very well be damaged valves in the comp

Recharged it using pressure gauges and a a can of refrigerant. Very possible I overcharged it.
