Would it be possible to set up all the collision detection equipment on my mazda (airbags, fuel pump cutoff, etc) on a toggle switch.

I don't want my airbags going off when I am running around offroad

They won't unless you hit a tree and you're driving WAY too fast for offroad.

Then you DO want them.

They are designed to go off for a 30 MPH front-end crash. Not on a pothole.

On the other hand, you don't want to break bones because you forgot to flip that toggle switch back on (or you did hit a tree).

i had a weird problem with the factory switch on my sporttrac, we where doing some light wheeling and my friend put his feet under my dash to brace himself and he ripped the wired out of the switch, tow truck bill home and about three hours scratching my head, i pushed the reset button, truck started right up and switch kicked again, the wires were touching each other.

inertia switch bypass.

i have seen a few inertia switches bypassed with a simple mini fuse in the connector, but i really don't think its a good idea. as far as airbags, definitely a bad idea

It's pretty rare for an airbag to pop out when wheeling... but it has happened before.

It's dangerous, however, to mess around with the airbag wiring because one wrong jolt of electricity and POP!

If I was going to make a new rig strictly into a wheeler, I'd probably be inclined to just completely disable the system. But such a thing would then be trailered to an from trails and sport 5-point harnesses.
