I’ve never seen one like that before. I wonder why they didn’t become a common thing? Cost?

The concept looks like it would be awesome.
Cost is probably a big thing... at least today anyway:

Probably not as versatile as the other kind either. Kamplite in general seems to be scarcer. It is really cool though.

Supposedly they work better than a normal lantern especially when hung up high because all of the light is directed downwards. I'm a hair nervous about having the fuel tank above a burning mantle though... typical of things made in the 50's. That is reason #1 I'm a little hesitant to fire it up, and why risk damaging it?

It looks like the chimney goes thru the center. Double wall?

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
Nice find Shran...

That one would be a display in my collection... probably worth more running then not.

My collection is really part of my retirement plan... hopefully the collector market holds on until I'm ready to start selling off my old junk.

I'm looking forward to garage sale season... not that I have any room for more stuff.

Looking at the pictures, it appears that there is a sleeve between the chimney and the fuel tank. It looks like they left quite a bit of an air gap between all three as well.

Yep... there's an air gap.

Maybe I will get it running. I did order mantles for it, lol. I read that Peerless 24-A mantles work better in this one and other single mantle lanterns so I ordered a few packs of them.

On today's episode of Pimp My Lantern... our host buys yet another 200A and salvages the accessory hatch for his other 200A.

I bought it for $10 because it had the accessory hatch... don't really care about the lantern, my 200A works great, but this new one is in pretty good shape apart from the dust and missing globe. I am keeping the accessory hatch and twist sparker and giving the rest to my buddy down the street who also collects Coleman gear.

Nope, they're both standard red, I had my old one running for a while and the vent gets darker while it's hot.

Over a month and no new Coleman posts

Fished on Sunday, was hoping for a couple cats but struck out and went to the lake. Caught a bunch of little bluegills. Fillets were tiny, but we fried up some breaded venison steak tips and hush puppies on my big three burner stove. I think this is the first time I've used this stove - the extra burner could come in real handy.

I think this is also the first time I've used my chicken fryer pan - the one on the middle burner - it's like an extra deep skillet, real handy for keeping the oil contained.

Dad had a three burner, said I could have it. Went to go find it and apparently one of his minions threw it in the scrap years ago. :temper:

Had a picnic at the lake last week, cooked brats on my stove.

Went back again Sunday night, I need to get something different to cook on, it is hard to cook two steaks in one skillet.

Made the same month, 2/85:

I lit it but we left before we really needed it this time:

They lowered the lake so the bass could catch up on the bluegill population, it was still a nice peaceful evening though.

And yes, I had fun playing with my camera...

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I need to get my stove and lantern out and make sure they're in working condition. Not sure exactly what to do to them. I guess disassemble, clean and re-assemble. Is there something I can or should do to the little pump gasket thingy? Is it leather? Should it be cleaned or soaked in something to make sure it's pliable?

These things probably haven't been used in 10-15 years.

Straight Neetsfoot oil is the best thing for the leathers, should be leather unless they are kinda new. Just kinda work it into the leather. My 1997 backpacking stove has rubber.

If it has been stored out of the case there are tutorials on how to tear down the lantern and check for bugs and bug nests inside them. It doesn't take much of a blockage to foul them up.
