Ha... of course.

I'm pretty sure I'm using a #21 on my 200A and it works fine. That little flame streamer that goes up into the vent is pretty weird. Makes me think that maybe a bigger mantle would maybe allow all the fuel to burn inside the mantle rather than float up like that, or maybe the generator is just junk and it's running rich like you said. Seems like it would just flare up and not run at all if that was the case though.

Unrelated, I picked up another nice 220 from an estate sale last weekend for $18. Even came with a nice yellow clam shell case. Will post up some pics when I get it cleaned up, looks like it was literally put away wet - has mud splattered all over it. Certainly did NOT need it, but I'll be the first to admit that I have a problem.............

Those cases are worth some bucks on eBay...

I am going to chase the air tube and see if that helps, I looked it from both ends and the generator hole and it was clear, I couldn’t get the macaroni thing off the top, not sure if I ran anything thru it.

I have about had it with Coleman mantles, last night I kept burning holes in them when I burned them, it took me three to get a good one. I test ran my CL2 a bit ago and noticed one mantle was getting dimmer... and then everything below the string just fell off.

Edit:

New cap gasket on the 200A so it can have the right fuel cap on it:

And the CL2 runs nice, for sitting on a table the picket globe would be slick. It puts out light but it is polite about it.

Our local Walmart has a 4 pack of mantles on clearance for $2, maybe other locations do too. Only saving about a buck but I stocked up and bought a bunch. I've had fairly good luck with the tie on #21s, the insta clip ones however, not so much.

That CL2 looks great! I really like my CL1. I shouldn't, it feels like a cheap piece of junk but it just runs so good.

Looking forward to seeing what's up with that 200A! Can't wait to see it running like it should.

OK... I took two minutes to snap a couple pics and take a more detailed look inside the fount of my new 220F. I thought it was gonna be a rusty disaster but I think it may just be fuzz on the cap - cleaned that up and dumped the old fuel out (which smells like gasoline... probably is gasoline.) Poured some acetone in, will let it sit a while before I tear it down.

It's in great shape, I may clean it up, get it running, keep the case and give the lantern away. It's nice but I already have a '67 220F, this one is a '72, I'm trying to not have a bunch of duplicates.

Me too... I have what the Coleman Collectors call the "suicide" case. For good reason I might add.

That is a great find Shran… if that is the original funnel... I've seen folks pay really good money to own one of those.

Might be the original funnel, I will have to check. I don't think my other clam shell case came with a funnel.

I do have a problem, I bought a 288 lantern today and spent my lunch hour cleaning it up. Lots of rust in the pump tube but I got that cleaned up and it runs great!!! It'll be a nice companion to my CL-1 (288 is basically a CL-2 IIRC.)

Yup, my CL2 actually says “Model 288” on the collar.

Great, he found us...

Anyway I got the macaroni thing off, I found a little glob of mud dauber around where the generator enters the air tube. Didn’t really look like much but I have read it doesn’t take much of a spider web to mess it up.

We're serious campers. Although if I'm looking at more than two consecutive days of rain I start looking for a hotel. Rain sucks when you're in a tent.

As long as the tent stays dry a rainy night in a tent is a great nights sleep.
