I was looking at my stud on my Ranger, and I only have 1" of threads left above the nut. If I tried to add a 1" spacer, it would use up all of the threads. There's no way I could add a 1-1/2" spacer.

Has anyone ever seen these studs with (2) different lengths??

I have not myself...

I could put about 1.25" of washers on mine (and that's with only a few threads holding it)... Any more would require a stud extender.

I think I can fit a 1-inch spacer, but I think I'd be right at the end of the threads with the nut on.

If it was a kit, it probably came with stud extenders

D28 I think has shorter studs, I have one of each on my truck. The smaller diameter end goes into the beam on the D28, the bigger thread goes into the beam on the D35... so there are two different studs floating around out there.

'95 D35 on top, '85 D28 on bottom



One of the ones was same as gone (and I finished it off tearing the axle apart) on my D35 so I have one of each.

I'd have to look again but I was able to use one of those cheap ebay 2" lift aftermarket aluminum coil spacers on my '92 D35 axle on the original studs without issue. Did not even use the supplied stud extenders.

Just to clarify, Jim was asking about the studs on 4x4 trucks.
Indeed it's just a matter of sticking a longer bolt in there on a 2WD. Unfortunately this isn't the case on a 4x4.

On both my '94 D35 and a friend's '91 Explorer D35, a 2" spacer would have left the end of the stud dead-even with the top of the spring perch, if not recessed down inside of it.

Seems any rhyme or reason to this may be elusive here
