I have an 02 b2300 base model and will be doing some front suspension work. How do I know if I need to replace my coil springs? Any idea how tall they should be when they are sitting on the garage floor?

I think the height would be the same even if you bought stock replacements. Its just the resistance or how much force it take to get them to compress.

Is the ride really bouncy on the front end while going over bumps and speed humps? Does it seem to drift in corners really bad? You can push on the front end and the suspension bounces more then before? That will tell you it is time to replace the shocks and coil springs.

if it looks like someone lifted the back and dropped the front, its time for new springs. if it looks like this in the front you need some springs

it should look closer to level like this, only higher - this ranger never sat very high even though i swapped the suspension off the blue one when i wrecked it.

I know that it is time to replace the shocks, I was just curious about the springs. I have decided to handball the truck off to the mechanic after I got the left side half apart and realized I did not have all of the tools I needed.
