Clutch master help

Hello i have a 1990 ford ranger with the 2.9 in it and ive been trying to bleed the clutch and have had no change in pedal pressure even after running about a quart of fluid through it so i watched a video on youtube on how to fix it ill have it linked below for a reference but he shows you how to take the master cylinder apart in the vehicle to bleed that but doesn’t show how to get it back together specifically the snap ring i cannot for the life of me get the rod to go deep enough to where i can get the snap ring back in any tips or tricks are appreciated
