Clutch is no more?

Hey y’all, I’m having an issue after I replaced my starter where my clutch won’t actuate at all. The pedal has close to no pressure and the line connecting to the slave cylinder just popped out and some plastic piece came out. What can I do to further diagnose this? Slave Cylinder? Clutch slave cyl? Just the line? Clutch does not work and is not being actuated at all so I can’t put it in gear. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can provide videos as well.

thats the little plastic piece that popped off but i lost it now and i dont know where its at.

So you lost that white plastic piece that has a V shape cut into it?

That piece is there so that you can push it in and release the quick connect fitting on the slave cylinder. TECHNICALLY... you do not actually need it for the hose to clip into the slave cylinder... BUT, it will be very difficult if not impossible to ever get the line disconnected again.

My guess is that it happened because the hose was not clipped in all the way at some point and finally just came out and maybe it got bumped when you were working on the starter.

If you find that piece or buy a new one, you will need to bleed the clutch... it is not a simple matter of clipping the line back in, there will be air in the clutch hydraulic system that will need to be bled out or it won't work correctly.

To bleed it, it’s through the valve on top of the slave? As well as the clutch master under the hood? Or is there something else I am missing.

Yes... the valve on the slave cylinder is the final step in the process. This video should give you some more info about how it works and how to bleed it:

They are notoriously hard to bleed and IMO the best way to get it right is to bench bleed the master and hose BEFORE you attach it to the slave... like the guy in the video does.
