clean cowl vent intake on 88 ranger

how do i clean cowl vent intake on 88 ranger. have had my heater all apart and there is little air coming out of vents in any position and fan is working fine along with all controls . tried to find a diagram of the ducting but no luck

you can disassemble the box from the inside and pop the screen off and drag it all out and go ape shit with the shop vac....the in/out door you can see from underneath with the core door off and out.

i had an angry bee problem....fat bastard rat problem...and constant tweety bird issues.......lil fawkers. tweety birds are year round pia......

My condenser completely plugged up with dirt and that really restricted air flow.

There are two tin covers on the engine side of the firewall, should be galvanized but may be black. You can take those out and scoop out the leaves that accumulate in the cowl. Can also pull the blower motor and housing, there is a nut on the inside of the cab you have to remove to get the housing off (very frustrating to discover that on your own)

I vaguely remember some plastic or leather flaps on the outside of the cowl. You have to remove the fenders to see them. I believe they are there to let out rain water. They can get clogged up and cause rust holes. This is especially true of the earlier cowls with the slots instead of holes.
