My credo
Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.
Normal way to do it is put it in neutral and press the brake then switch it to 4 hi. The truck has to be stopped and in neutral to engage/disengage 4lo. Also disconnect the battery for a minute or so and hook it back up. It resets the module. That worked many times for me, If that does not work you can remove the shift motor and manually put it back in 2hi. It is marked on the casing when you take the shift motor off.
