Ok I pulled out the codes on my 1994 Mazda B3000 4x4 today, using the instructions from http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=49 this is what I found

The KOEO code came out as 335 twice, I looked it up in the list and it said

“PFE or DPFE sensor voltage out of Self-Test range” can someone translate this into English for me ?

On to the CM codes, the codes are very hard to read and they did not come out like the instructions said they would.

The code I received goes like this.

1 supposed to signal the change of codes

1
1
3
1
5
7
3
2
7
3
3
2

1
1
3
1
5
7
3
2

3
3
2

I am thinking i am going to need the timming to get this right

Plz bear with me this is a learning experience :3gears:

DPFE out of range probably means either the sensor is toast (known problem part), or the wiring to the sensor is bad. PCM failures are rare but possible.

The DPFE sends a DC signal to the PCM proportional to the amount of EGR flow in the engine. It's fairly easy to test with a multimeter and a hand vacuum pump.

If the battery voltage to the DPFE is missing, there will be no output signal.

If the signal wire to the PCM from the DPFE is open, the PCM will also read zero.

If the ground wire to the DPFE is open, the PCM will probably get full battery voltage on the sensor output wire all the time.

If there are other failures, it could be a wiring issue or a bad PCM. Sometimes it's cheaper to get a $60 diagnostic at a good dealership.

I think the CM codes came out as this

113 ACT circuit has intermittently failed above the maximum of 4.6 volts
157 MAF sensor went below 0.4 volts during the last 80 warm-up cycles.
327 DPFE or EVP circuit below minimum voltage of 0.2 volts.
332 EGR valve opening not detected.

Can someone tell me what is going on ?

More INFO from the TRS Tec page on what the codes mean

113 ACT circuit has intermittently failed above the maximum of 4.6 volts

113 IAT sensor is/was high or open - IAT

157 MAF sensor went below 0.4 volts during the last 80 warm-up cycles.

157 Mass Air Flow signal is/was low or grounded - MAF

327 DPFE or EVP circuit below minimum voltage of 0.2 volts.

327 EGR feedback signal is/was low - EVR or PFE

332 EGR valve opening not detected.

332 EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly - EVR or PFE

Thanks for the reply ........ i think i am going to have to bring it to a shop like you said,

Just a question, any reason why i should bring it to a ford shop ? couldent i bring it to a local shop that i have used b4 ........ or does the ford shop have a more detailed reader then a regular shop would have ?

i had it into mazda for 2 days a few years ago and my experience is that most of the guys in there did not know if it was fit to eat. due to it being old and b4 there time.

This truck has been running like crap for a while, ever since 95 ? lol

Burns way to much gas and has zerro power

Most smaller shops won't have a reader/diagnostic tool for Pre-OBDII computers. I know the shop I work in doesn't. We have one for OBDII and all kinds of ABS related things, and a ton of other crap...but no support for OBDI.

So anyone with a odb 1 reader should be able to do it, are the odb1 readers different for each type of truck ?

*************************************************************************************************

More info on my truck

bought it in 2003 had no power bad on fuel and it surged

found out that the left bank had two cyl with less then 100 psi rebuild time

the motor was built by a ford mec rings, bearings, heads were checked

truck does not have a cat in it, it also has a magnaflow exhaust

the distributor gear took a crap last year striped out ........... so i had to replace that with a used one

Ugh BTW the truck is a 1994 Mazda B3000 4x4 Auto

Is your truck even running? Is it surging, hard starting, hard to keep running?

SORRY I SHOULD OF HAD SAID THIS IS A BIT OF HISTORY ON MY TRUCK
THE REBUILD WAS DONE A FEW YEARS AGO
I HAVE NOT CHECKED THE COMPRESSION SINCE THE REBUILD
AFTER THE REBUILD TRUCK DOES NOT SURGE LIKE IT DID WHEN DRIVING THE TAC WOULD JUMP 500RPMS
BUT NOW IT ALMOST BOGS WHEN YOU FIRST START TO GIVE IT THE FUEL BUT THEN CLEARS UP
IT IS RUNNING NOW, STARTS FIRST FLICK, AND AS LONG AS YOU ARE DRIVING IT IT WILL RUN ALL DAY LONG BUT IF YOU LET IT IDLE IT WILL SURGE COUGH SPIT AND SPUTTER AND MIGHT STALL.

BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I CHECKED INTO IT AND THE ABOVE IS WHAT I FOUND
