Ok I have a 91 Mr2 turbo, and I belong to mr2oc.com, But nobody there can really help me with this. When i start it, it knocks for a few seconds until the oil light goes out, but when it has ran for maybe an hour or so, and then sat for about 15 minutes, it wont build pressure for lke 30 secods and knocks and chatters. I use full synthetic, 10w30 and a mobil 1 filter. Im afraid its gonna spin a rod bearing. Its my only mode of transportation right now, because we all know about my poor ranger. any ideas? Oh yea, I read the post about the restore additive, anybody think that would help my rod bearings? and I thought about going to 0w oil, but it seems like that would increase the problem, and not help. What do you guys think?

It sounds like something has more clearance than it should have. If it was mine I would try changing the main and rod bearing shells. I would suggest changing the oil pump but I believe it cannot be changed with the motor in place. If you do pull the pan you might also check that the pickup tube is not loose or that it is properly sealed.

Measure the crankshaft before you order them to make sure it isn't worn out of spec, or you may need to have it turned and get undersized bearings. If the crankshaft has any roughness to it, it will trash your new bearings quickly.
